1-2 Blog: Project Analysis

The company I chose is McKesson. The main business of McKesson is to distribute pharmaceuticals, medical supplies, medical equipment, and health information to health care facilities to allow them to operate efficiently while improving patient care. The company is very profitable as of 2020. McKesson ranks at the 11th on the Fortune 500 list. McKesson is one of the largest pharmaceutical distribution companies in the world. A new service that McKesson could offer would be their own branded Electronic Medical Record (EMR) software. This software can be the top of the line product that unlike other software notify you when it’s time to chart. For example, I’ve used EMR’s that let’s say the nurse or certified nurse’s aide (CNA) need to chart medication given. So, the patient can have an 11am medication scheduled and the system would notify you at that time whereas this new system can notify the nurse or whoever has to chart something earlier as in 30 minutes or an hour. There can also have a notification so that way if the nurse is busy then hearing the notification can alert him/her that some sort of charting is coming up within the next 30 minutes or hour.
